By Limin Zhou, Epoch Times OTTAWA—During Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s recent visit to China, the Subcommittee on International Human Rights unanimously passed a motion condemning the Chinese regime’s practice of forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience. The motion, which was passed on Nov. 6, stated that the subcommittee “expresses its deep concern over the…

The doctor appointed to make excuses for forced organ harvesting in China has once again changed his story regarding the source of organs for transplantation. Unfortunately, new evidence developed from papers published by Chinese doctors gives the lie to the latest official claims about the sourcing of organs for transplant.
On Oct. 30, Huang Jiefu, director of the National Organ Transplantation Committee and former vice minister of Health, announced: “Organs voluntarily donated by citizens have become the only source of organ transplants in China. Now all hospitals in China have stopped taking organs from executed prisoners. The relevant laws that will fit the current organ transplant situation are being updated and revised.”
This strong statement indicating a change in the sourcing of organs did not last long before being qualified. On the website of the popular financial magazine Caixin, where Huang Jiefu’s claim was first reported, the first two sentences were quickly changed to “Chinese organ transplantation has entered a new stage of historical development when organs voluntarily donated by citizens become the only organ source. At present, all the hospitals in China are changing past practice.”
BY THE EPOCH TIMES U.S. author Ethan Gutmann’s new book, The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting, and China’s Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem, is a riveting inside account of China’s booming organ transplant business and gives a glimpse into the Chinese state’s secret program to get rid of arrested dissidents while profiting from the sale…
On Oct. 6, the Town of Deerpark became the latest local municipality to pass a resolution in support of H.Res. 281. The House bill calls on China to “end the practice of organ harvesting from prisoners, and particularly from Falun Gong prisoners of conscience and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups.”
“We felt it was a very important issue,” Deerpark Supervisor Karl Brabenec said, “because we are human beings, like everyone else, and if there are atrocities such as those occurring in China because of people’s beliefs, that is just unacceptable. This is something that needs to be addressed on a local, national and international level.”
Deerpark is home to Dragon Springs, a 427-acre retreat for Falun Gong refugees and Chinese performance artists that features a temple, auditorium, residence halls, meditation halls, library and classrooms; the development, which began in 2001, currently has a maximum occupancy of just over 300 people – but it’s hard to say exactly how many people Dragon Springs actually serves, because Falun Gong has no formal membership or leaders to speak on their behalf. A number of adherents who live in the greater Orange County area are not part of Dragon Springs.
TEN years ago, Ethan Gutmann wrote a book called “Losing the New China: A Story of American Commerce, Desire, and Betrayal.” It was about the sordid relationship between the American business community and the Chinese Communist Party. Our businessmen accommodate themselves to the CCP, and turn a blind eye to persecution. Sometimes they even abet this persecution: as when Cisco and other technology companies devised special ways to monitor and arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Reviewing Gutmann’s book in these pages, I said, “Every once in a while comes a book to stir your slumber, and this is one.”
Gutmann’s new book, The Slaughter, should prevent sleep altogether. It is a stark title, for a stark reality.
The book is about Falun Gong and its practitioners, and the CCP’s relentless persecution of them. Falun Gong is a religion or spiritual philosophy or “mind–body system.” It has its roots in Buddhism and qigong (a relative of yoga). In other words, it is very Chinese — unlike Marxism-Leninism (and Maoism). Its leading tenets are “Truth, Compassion, Forbearance.” The practitioners have had a lot to forbear.
The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting, and China’s Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem
The inside story of China’s organ transplant business and its macabre connection with internment camps and killing fields for arrested dissidents, especially the adherents of Falun Gong.
Mass murder is alive and well. That is the stark conclusion of this comprehensive investigation into the Chinese state’s secret program to get rid of political dissidents while profiting from the sale of their organs–in many cases to Western recipients. Based on interviews with top-ranking police officials and Chinese doctors who have killed prisoners on the operating table, veteran China analyst Ethan Gutmann has produced a riveting insider’s account–culminating in a death toll that will shock the world.
Following the exposure of Chinese Communist Party’s live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, more and more secret investigations have been conducted to identify the authenticity of the allegation. The Slaughter is a new book soon to be released in August. Written by former U.S. think tank researcher Ethan Gutmann, this book illustrates the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners by a doctor who eye witnessed the entire process.
Recently, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting interviewed former U.S. think tank researcher Ethan Gutmann about his new book The Slaughter, a painstaking collective investigation and records of live organ harvesting of more than 100 witnesses.
Among them was a surgeon with a peerless reputation for integrity and candor. He has personal and direct knowledge of the organ harvesting of Falun Gong in the Chinese mainland, said Gutmann. On August 12 when the book is released, the experience and identity of the doctor will be revealed.
