OTTAWA, Canada—It’s no longer possible to deny the Chinese regime is killing political prisoners and prisoners of conscience for their organs, said Scott Reid, chair of the Canadian Parliament’s human rights subcommittee.
“Nobody could seriously doubt the nature of the problem, the size of the problem. What we call ‘plausible deniability’ is now gone,” said Reid.
Reid’s comments came after investigative journalist Ethan Gutmann, and medical doctor Damon Noto, a spokesman for Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting, testified before the Canadian Parliament’s human rights subcommittee on Tuesday.
In sometimes gruesome detail, the two men outlined much of the current evidence of forced organ harvesting in China.
Gutmann recently released a book on the topic, “The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting, and China’s Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem,” in which he detailed how the practice began in Xinjiang Province where Uyghur Muslim political prisoners were executed and their organs removed.Details
The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting and China’s Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem, is the latest from Ethan Gutmann, a veteran China analyst based in London, England.
The book investigates China’s secret program to eliminate dissidents — Falun Gong, Tibetans and Uyghurs — while profiting from the sale of their organs. The purchasers are often from Western countries.
The Slaughter provides personal accounts from top-ranking police officials, nurses, doctors who have killed prisoners on the operating table and refugees who came close to being killed.
Gutmann’s writing on China has been widely published. He’s testified before the U.S. Congress, the European Parliament and the United Nations. He’s speaking on panels across Canada on a tour that brings him to Toronto on Thursday.

I wrote a report with David Kilgour in June 2006 which concluded that prisoners of conscience in China, practitioners of the spiritually based set of exercises Falun Gong, were being killed for their organs which were being sold at high prices to transplant patients. We produced a second version in of our report in January 2007 and a third version in book form under the title Bloody Harvest in November 2009. Our report prompted the founding of a non-governmental organization Doctors against Forced Organ Harvesting or DAFOH. I and Dr. Torsten Trey, the founder of DAFOH, co-edited a book of essays on organ transplant abuse in China published in August 2012 under the name State Organs.
Going through all relevant evidence to come to an informed conclusion on the killing of Falun Gong for their organs is a time consuming task and it is unrealistic to expect everyone interested in the issue to do that. That does not mean though that those who have neither the time nor inclination to engage in this work should to nothing.Details

Live Forum: China’s Practice of Organ Harvesting & Mass Murder – Guest speakers Ethan Gutmann & David Kilgour

Former Health Minister of the General Logistics Department of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personally confirmed that former Chinese President Jiang Zemin ordered live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. These organs were used for transplants according to telephone records recently released by World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG). The telephone record also confirmed that the organ harvesting crimes have been jointly committed by the judicial system, the military, armed police and local medical institutions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). WOIPFG says the recordings expose only a small part of the findings of the entire investigation process. A more complete series of evidence will be soon submitted to the International Tribunal.
Since 2006 when the CCP was exposed for organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners for the first time, the CCP Authorities have publicly denied the allegations with the excuse of “insufficient evidence.” They turned their backs and attacked innocent Falun Gong, saying the accusations were fabricated rumors. The outside world also did not pay full attention to this event due to the bloodiness and sensitive nature of the subject.Details
The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: October 1, 2014) – In recent years investigators have revealed a systemic practice by the Chinese government to use the organs from executed prisoners of conscience for transplantation. ROME—The congress of the Italian Society of Organ Transplantation (SITO) concluded in Siena, Italy, end September. Doctors and professional workers shared with the public the reality of a sensitive issue. From one side, Italy is one of the most advanced medical countries in the world, from another side, there is still poor information about the illegal organs’ market, which flourishes in some regions of the world.
Speakers who took turns on stage showed the same desire: give an organ to about 9,000 patients on the Italian waiting list. “We could do more,” said Professor Franco Citterio, SITO President, during an interview with Epoch Times. “We see that when people are informed, the number of donations increases.”
Professor Citterio recalled the 20th anniversary of Nicholas Green’s death – the 7 year old American boy killed by mistake by the Mafia in southern Italy. His parents’ altruistic decision to donate his organs, saving thus seven people, was widely publicized by media. The donation figures increased dramatically in Italy from that day, which reached 2,841 transplants in 2013.Details
Since organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners was first revealed in 2006, the relevant evidence and information about the CCP’s (Chinese Communist Party) crimes have continued to be exposed. WOIPFG, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, announced the first list of medical staff alleged to have participated in live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. They are either the suspects committing genocide and murder or witnesses.
WOIPFG announced on Sept. 27 the first list of alleged organizations and members of 228 hospitals and 1,814 medical staff in China.
WOIPFG stated, whereas the CCP has committed the crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity by its persecution of Falun Gong, live organ harvesting is a serious breach of medical ethics and of any law enacted by mankind. Therefore, any individual participating in organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners or prisoners of conscience must take full responsibility for their actions. These accused doctors, nurses, anesthetists, and etc., prior to providing credible and reliable evidence to prove his or her innocence, should be regarded as suspects committing genocide, murder or witnesses.Details
Thank you, Tribune, for your work through the years to help us all be more aware of events and concerns in our state, nation and our world.
Thank you to all four Utah congressmen, who were among the first of a total of 215 Representatives who have co-sponsored H. Res. 281 “expressing concern over persistent and credible reports of systematic, state-sanctioned organ harvesting from non-consenting prisoners of conscience in the People’s Republic of China, including from large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their religious beliefs, and members of other religious and ethnic minority groups.”
Thank you to the U. of U. Hinckley Institute for hosting the forum Sept. 19, “Forced Organ Harvesting in China and its Effect on the U.S.”Details
Condemnation of organ harvesting co-sponsored by Petri and Ribble
I’d like to sincerely thank Rep. Tom Petri and Rep. Reid Ribble for co-sponsoring House Resolution 281.
We are probably all well aware of the human rights violations committed in China by the communist regime. This has weighed heavily on my mind. Sipping tea and reading through my favorite forums, I discovered an article regarding state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting in China. I was shocked.
Although it may be difficult to believe, the Chinese communist state forcibly removes organs from prisoners of conscience for a very lucrative transplantation industry.
The victims of what has been called “a new form of evil on this planet” are just like you and I — normal people. The vast majority of those who have died on the operating table are those who practice Falun Gong, a traditional meditation/spiritual practice that incorporates gentle exercises and promotes truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. By 1999, it was estimated that over 70 million people in China were practicing Falun Gong.Details

(Remarks prepared for delivery to the University of Utah, 19 September, 2014)
I want today to address two topics, the evidence about the killing of Falun Gong for their organs and what Utah can do about it.
I am a lawyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in private practice. My clients are primarily refugee claimants seeking protection in Canada. I have been engaged in this professional work for almost all of my professional career.
Because my clients flee human rights violations, I have become familiar through my work with the human rights situation in many countries, including China. I try, as best I can, not only to assist my clients in obtaining protection, but also to combat the human rights violations which caused them to flee. In addition to tribunal and court work for individual clients, I have become involved in research, writing, advocacy and activism in the broader human rights scene.Details

Journalist Ethan Gutmann recently delved into one of China’s darkest secrets: the Chinese Communist Party’s monstrous live organ harvesting practice.
In March 2006, the first word about live organ harvesting escaped China, when a surgeon’s ex-wife fled from China to reveal that Chinese authorities in a concentration camp in Sujiatun, China murdered Falun Gong practitioners for their organs. She stated that the organs are removed at a nearby hospital (the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine) while the practitioners were still alive. Her husband said that most of them were strong and healthy and breathing when their organs were removed. Her husband confirmed that the prisoners at the Sujiatun camp were all Falun Gong practitioners, and since the Chinese Communist Party deemed the deaths of Falun Gong practitioners as “suicide,” the hospitals were free to remove organs without formal procedures.Details

An organ trafficking ring operating out of a Cambodian military hospital was broken up in August, as Cambodian police made nine arrests, including at least one Chinese doctor and professor who acted as a consultant and trainer for the group.
State-led organ harvesting is common in the People’s Republic of China, especially involving military hospitals, but until now has remained confined to the PRC.
“This isn’t the exact China model of organ harvesting spreading to other countries—it’s not going that far,” said Dr. Torsten Trey, the executive director of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting, a medical advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. “However, it seems that there is a systematic approach to foster organ trafficking in areas where there was no organ trafficking before.”
The Chinese doctor who was scooped up in the raid was there training local doctors in organ transplants—a practice that in China primarily targets death row prisoners and prisoners of conscience, researchers said.Details

Remarks prepared for delivery to the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation, Istanbul, Turkey, 10 September, 2014
There needs to be more of an effort in the Middle East to combat transplant tourism from the Middle East. National professional associations should require compliance with international standards.
My focus is, in particular, transplant tourism from the Middle East into China. Why I have this focus will, in the course of this presentation, become apparent.
These professional international standards worth noting:
• The Transplantation Society Ethics Committee Policy Statement ‑ Chinese Transplantation Program November 2006 and Mission Statement (TTS).
• The Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism May 2008 (Istanbul)
• World Health Organization Guiding Principles on Human Cell, Tissue and Organ Transplantation, May 2008 (WHO)
• World Medical Association Statement on Organ and Tissue Donation October 2012 (WMA)

Dead human bodies are being injected with plastic and sent on a world tour, making German anatomist Gunther von Hagens extremely wealthy. So, what is wrong with that, you ask? Must be educational?
The Body World exhibition, as it is called, has been on a world tour for decades, but the snag is, claims have been made that the bodies of executed Chinese prisoners – which include prisoners of conscience – are spliced open and put on display around the world for the paying public, which includes many school groups.
An investigative journalist Ethan Gutmann is an expert on the topic of forced organ harvesting in China, where prisoners of conscience, mostly Falun Gong practitioners – a peaceful spiritual discipline- are killed for their organs.
He challenges von Hagen to allow the dead bodies in the exhibition to be DNA tested. “We now have a show which is travelling around which may have the DNA of murdered prisoners of conscience,” Gutmann said in an interview with NTD Television. “I’m not an expert, but these look Chinese.”
“There is another Body show going around the world. It’s actually bigger. It’s run by Von Hagens’s former manager Sui Hongjin,” Gutmann said in a statement, which was read out to the press and public.Details
Between February and June 2014, 2,595 people in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, and surrounding areas signed a petition denouncing these crimes, and demanding that the organ harvesting be stopped.
One woman was enraged after hearing about the atrocity, “The CCP is killing people! Who wouldn’t sign the petition to stop it? I am signing it!” She also brought 14 of her relatives to sign the petition.
A government employee was angry after seeing a picture depicting the live organ harvesting, “I can’t believe that in a country that boasts itself as a ‘socialist spiritual civilization’ and ‘harmonious society,’ such inhumane crimes can be happening. Anyone with a conscience should ask for justice. I am signing the petition.”
A person visiting from a nearby county said as he signed, “The Party is so evil. It ruined my whole life. During the ‘land reform,’ my family was put in the ‘rich peasant’ category and has suffered ever since.”
The lady who brought 14 relatives to sign the petition was very happy. Her sister-in-law had had cirrhosis and stomach bleeding. She frequently went to hospitals and had just had surgery in Beijing.Details

A Chinese woman in Shenzhen City recently went to hospital for what she thought was a small surgery: to remove kidney stones. During the surgery, however, doctors told her that her left kidney must be removed for her to survive. After she sought an explanation for what was going on, she was reportedly told “we’ll compensate you as much as necessary.”
The 32 year-old Wei Jianmin was diagnosed with kidney stones on Aug. 24 in Guangsheng Hospital, in Shenzhen, according to the state-run Yangcheng Evening News. After learning from a doctor that surgery to remove the stones is minimally invasive and only costs 800 yuan ($130), she opted to do it right away.
By 2 p.m. the same day she was in an operating room.
She awoke from anesthesia at around 7 p.m., still lying on the operating table. At around 9 p.m, a group of doctors and nurses came in and drew some blood. They then came back and said that needed to take out her left kidney.
“The doctor told me that it’s a must to remove the kidney, otherwise I won’t survive until tomorrow,” Wei recounted, in interviews in the Chinese press.Details
